In cities cloaked in neon haze,
Where echoes of the past still blaze,
I wander through a fractured mind,
A tapestry of dreams unlined.
The faces blur, their eyes like glass,
Each glance a question, none to ask.
Amidst the throng, a flicker—fear,
What truth is mine when none is clear?
The watchers stand, with coded eyes,
Their judgments fall like whispered lies.
In every smile, a hint of pain,
A world constructed, yet in vain.
A workshop conducted by Hans Van den Broeck & Jake Ingram-Dodd in the framework of ImpulsTanz – festival 2023
The goal is to sharpen our capacity of improvisation – training the necessary skills through immediate, instant, impromptu actions and “here and now” performance. Parameters encompass endurance, flexibility (physical, narrative or hybrid form) and stream of consciousness, amongst others. The 3-hour work-sessions are timed via a short-rotation principle or via longer duration; a strategy to destabilise a “natural” build-up, warp the now, focus on the moment and make us roam in wastelands were the unexpected can take root. This workshop will be accessible to public/audience in assigned sessions: the audience and the performer are interchangeable, everyone can decide to watch or to perform.
We undertook a long improvisation-session on the outside tennis courts, trying to meander & flow through the different excercises & associative games we undertook in the days before – a flow – an eruption – no narration
